Cayo Largo is a small island (a key) located in Canarreos archipelago, a long row of keys in the southern border of the Cuban insular platform, deep into the Caribbean sea.
Cayo Largo is a natural paradise where you feel a little bit like Robinson Crusoe, really away from city life. A virgin island for people who like nature, the wildlife and quiet places. If you are looking for a party like ambiance, a hectic nightlife, shopping malls, big restaurants or McDonalds, you will be very disappointed. But, if you are looking for tranquillity, a relaxed atmosphere, an unpretentious comfort, the opportunity to practice naturism, and endless gorgeous virgin beaches... then Cayo Largo is for you!
The key is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Cuba. The South coastline is a stretch of more than 20 kilometers of beaches, all with very fine & white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. You can walk for hours and hours going East to Playas Blanca, Los Cocos and Tortuga or West to Playa Paraiso or Sirena. The most 'crowed' beaches are in front of the hotels and at Playa Sirena, where excursionists from the main island come regularly to spend the day. Going West, the beaches (including Paraiso) are almost deserted. It is the same for the beaches to the East of hotels (Playa Blanca, Los Cocos and Tortuga). These are mile after mile of virgin and secluded beaches where you will find pelicanos and other birds, iguanas, turtles, crabs, and sometimes one or two happy tourists.
An airport has been constructed in Cayo Largo, where all size airplanes connect it with the rest of Cuba and the whole world. Some hotels, specially designed to preserve the natural environment may host you for a marvelous stay, but if you are living in the big island, daily excursions from the main touristic poles show this paradise to all visitors.
